There are many ways you can make a HUGE difference in the life of a senior:
Wheels - Provide occasional rides to medical appointments and social events. May require a steady arm to escort in and out of the building. Drivers use their own vehicles. Appointments are arranged as needed and according to the drivers availability. Drivers usually provide 1-3 rides per month; almost all are during regular M-F business hours.
Friendly Visitor - Volunteer for occasional visits. Play card games, go on a walk, find common interests and socialize with one of the wonderful seniors in our community. Make a difference in an elders life and yours!
Senior Healthcare Advocate - Escort a senior to his/her medical appointment and help them with follow-up. Volunteer could either work as needed or be matched to one senior (providing long-term help to that one person). This position is open to individuals with experience dealing with the healthcare system - it is a perfect match for retired RN's, LPN's, Social Workers, or others with a good understanding of how to navigate medical care.
Yard Work - Seasonal Help for Seniors - Do you like the outdoors? Enjoy gardening or the smell of freshly cut grass? Seniors in your neighborhood need a little extra help with their yards. This opportunity is PERFECT for teens looking for volunteer experience. A few hours a month will make a huge difference!
Board Member - Helping chart our course by adding fresh ideas and perspectives from our neighborhoods. Our board meets 9 times each year on Monday evenings. Seniors and residents of the Summit University or Union Park areas are especially needed. Use our contact form or call us at 651.646.2301 for more information.
